Food processing machinery - Vegetable peelers - Safety and hygiene requirements; German version EN 13208:2003+A1:2010
Nahrungsmittelmaschinen - Gemüseschälmaschinen - Sicherheits- und Hygieneanforderungen; Deutsche Fassung EN 13208:2003+A1:2010
Overview
This standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with such requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Communities, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called presumption of conformity). This European standard specifies the safety and hygiene requirements for the design and manufacture of vegetable peelers used in commercial and institutional catering kitchens, and in food shops. The machines dealt with in this standard are designed to peel different sorts of vegetables and tubers such as potatoes, carrots, black salsify, turnips, celery and onions. The standard is limited to machines where the maximum capacity is 50 kg. The machines are not intended to be moved during operation. The rotating plate mixes the product under appropriate conditions so that the desired operation is carried out on the entire load.
