Robots and robotic devices - Safety requirements for industrial robots - Part 2: Robot systems and integration (ISO 10218-2:2011); German version EN ISO 10218-2:2011
Industrieroboter - Sicherheitsanforderungen - Teil 2: Robotersysteme und Integration (ISO 10218-2:2011); Deutsche Fassung EN ISO 10218-2:2011
Overview
This standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with such requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Communities, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called presumption of conformity). This part of ISO 10218 specifies safety requirements and guidance for the integration of industrial robots and industrial robot systems as defined in ISO 10218-1, and industrial robot cell(s). It describes the basic hazards and hazardous situations identified with these systems and provides requirements to eliminate or adequately reduce the risks associated with these hazards. This standard contains the German version of EN ISO 10218-2:2011 which has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 184 "Automation systems and integration" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 310 "Advanced automation technologies and their applications" at the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). The national interests during the preparation were represented by Committee NA 060-30-02 AA "Roboter und Robotikgeräte" ("Robots and robotic devices") in Technical Section "Automation and Integration" of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of the manufacturers and users of industrial robots and of the employers' liability insurance associations are involved in the preparation.
