Involute splines based on reference diameters - Part 2: Nominal and inspection dimensions
Abstract
This document is applicable to spline connections with involute splines and reference diameters for detachable, sliding or fixed connection of shaft and hub and specifies the following principles: a) Uniform pressure angle 30°; b) Same reference profile for all pitches, therefore a uniform formation law for all profiles; c) Flank centering. In exceptional cases, diameter centering; d) Use of profile offsets to achieve certain reference diameters; e) The fitting system contains tolerances for the effective form deviations so that their influence on the fit clearance is taken into account. All requirements are met by the possible choice of different dimension series and tolerance classes. Splines with involute spline flanks according to this document are used for detachable, movable or fixed connection of shaft and hub. They have the properties required for torque transmission and centering and meet the conditions of economic manufacturability.
