Abstract
This document defines terms, determinants and deviations of hobs for involute spr gears. The explanations refer to hobs with both unmodified and modified reference profiles. Essential contents and parameters of this document are also applicable to hobs with special profiles, e.g. for the production of worms and worm gears (flank forms A, C, I, K and N according to DIN 3975-1), sprockets (DIN 8190, DIN ISO 606), splined shafts (DIN 5471, DIN 5472), serrations (DIN 5481) and rotors. The differences are not explicitly explained.
