DIN/VDI Standards Committee Acoustics, Noise Control and Vibration Engineering

Overview

This Supplement is a compilation and explanation of terms relating to condition monitoring of machinery and is related to the terminology standard ISO 13372 "Condition monitoring and diagnostics of machines - Terms". Terms from all DIN standards, ISO standards and VDI guidelines relating to condition monitoring and diagnostics were taken into account in the compilation. Within the explanations of the technical terms, arrows are used to refer to other terms contained in the Supplement that are necessary for understanding a technical term. For some terms, reference is also made to special standards or guidelines that provide a more detailed explanation of the term in question. The English terms are recommended translations taken from the English-language standards and technical literature listed in the bibliography. With their help, a uniform and comprehensible translation of German and English documents is facilitated. The indexes in German and English help to find a technical term. The terms compiled in this Supplement are recommended for use in - scientific and technical publications, - new standards and guidelines, - documentation of software and hardware, - the training of students and engineering and technical personnel, - agreements between contractual partners.
