Overview

This standard has been prepared with the collaboration of German experts of Technical Committee ISO/TC 29 "Small tools"/SC 5 "Grinding wheels and abrasives", in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 143 "Machine tools - Safety" and shall replace DIN EN ISO 6103:2005-07. It specifies the maximum permissible values of unbalances for bonded abrasive wheels with an outside diameter D ≥ 125 mm and maximum operating speed vs ≥ 16 m/s, in the as-delivered condition. It also specifies the method for measuring the unbalance and the practical method for testing whether a grinding wheel is acceptable or not. The determination of the mass ma is supported both in tabular form and graphically. Diamond, cubic boron nitride or natural stone grinding wheels, or centreless control wheels, lapping and disc wheels, ball wheels or glass grinding wheels are not dealt with in this standard. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 121-04-04 AA "Schleifkörper aus gebundenem Schleifmittel" ("Bonded abrasives") at DIN.
