Overview
With the 3rd edition of DIN EN 13368-2 contained in this document the scope has been expanded again in that the determination of another substance (Fe-HBED) has been included within the framework of mandate M/418. The validation work took place under German project management within the framework of cooperation with the Association of German Agricultural Analytic and Research Institutes (VDLUFA) e. V. The document specifies a method for the chromatographic determination of the iron chelated by each individual ortho(hydroxy)-ortho(hydroxy) isomer of the chelating agents o,o-EDDHA, o,o-EDDHMA and by HBED in fertilizers containing one or more of these substances. The method is suitable for the identification and the determination of the total concentration of water soluble iron chelates of these chelating agents. It is not applicable for determining the free form of the chelating agents and applies to EC fertilizers covered by Regulation (EC) No 2003/2003. The method is applicable for the determination of a mass fraction of the metallically bonded form of the chelating agent of at least 0,625 %. The European Standard has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 260 "Fertilizers and liming materials" (secretariat: DIN, Germany). The mirror committee is Working Committee NA 057-03-02 AA "Düngemittel" ("Fertilizers") of NAL.
