Lebensmittelhygiene - Arbeitsbekleidung in Lebensmittelbetrieben; Text Deutsch, Englisch und Französisch
Overview
This standard provides instructions relating to the manufacture, selection, use and reprocessing of workwear in food businesses under the premise that the specific requirements of the respective workplaces shall be taken into account. The aim of this standard is to avoid any influence detrimental to foodstuffs (§ 3 of the LMHV, German Food Hygiene Regulations) which can be caused by inappropriate workwear. DIN 10524 specifies the legal requirements with regard to suitable workwear in food businesses and serves for orientation for the manufacturers of the corresponding workwear, the food businesses, as well as textile service providers or textile dry cleaners in order to comply with the legal requirements. The use of standardized workwear in food businesses, in conjunction with proper use and handling of this clothing, facilitates the maintenance of fully hygienic conditions in relation to workwear when handling foodstuffs. Manufacture of safe foodstuffs leads to a reduction of food-related diseases and results in cost reductions in the health sector. This serves simultaneously to strengthen health-related consumer protection. This engineering standard, which deals in particular with aspects of health protection, describes the technical prerequisites and the suitable procedure for the use of workwear in the food area. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN 10524-2:2004-05: - the definition "good laundry practice" has been supplemented by another note on the intex-RABC-Certificate; - the requirements for the colouring of the workwear have been concretized; - the descriptive assessment of fuzzing and/or pilling has been complemented by a photographic assessment; - the requirements for the self-smoothing behaviour of fabrics and seams have been revised; - the requirements for headwear and aprons have been defined more precisely and requirements for accessories have been complemented. The working committee responsible for this standard is NA 057-02-01-03 AK "Arbeitsbekleidung in Lebensmittelbetrieben" ("Workwear in food business") of Working Committee NA 057-02-01 AA "Lebensmittelhygiene" ("Food hygiene") at DIN.
