Requirements for electrical stunning systems for slaughter animals
Abstract
This document specifies requirements for the functioning of electrical equipment for stunning and/or killing livestock for slaughter in accordance with animal welfare requirements. This document is also applicable to electrical stunning equipment intended for depopulation. It specifies requirements for: ⎯ the suitability of the equipment (structural, technical-physical) ⎯ technical equipment of the system/system environment ⎯ environmental factors ⎯ Minimum contents of the operating instructions for proper use of the systems ⎯ Regular inspection and monitoring of the system (theoretical and practical) ⎯ Measuring and testing equipment and specifications for measurement and testing specified. The document is not applicable to waterbath stunning of poultry, fish and crustaceans.
