Overview
This standard addresses the requirements for the basic measurement procedures applicable to installations and equipment intended for electroheating (EH) or electromagnetic processing of materials (EPM). The subject of this standard is to define the tests for characterization and verification of the safety requirements for different types of EH or EPM installations or equipment. The concept and content regarding electrical energy efficiency according to IEC/TS 62796 have been incorporated here. This standard has been completely revised in parallel with the fifth edition of IEC 60519-1. It covers: - relevant measurement procedures for power and safety related measurements; - tests for general operational performance; - general concepts for the application of dummy batches; - general evaluation methods for operational performance, energy utilization and efficiency; - general evaluation methods for energy recovery. This standard is intended to serve as a general reference for all future test standards applicable to EH or EPM installations or equipment. The responsible committee is DKE/K 362 "Industrielle Elektrowärme" ("Industrial electroheat") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
