Medical electrical equipment - Part 2-24: Particular requirements for basic safety and essential performance of infusion pumps and controllers (IEC 60601-2-24:2012); German version EN 60601-2-24:2015

Title (German)

Medizinische elektrische Geräte - Teil 2-24: Besondere Festlegungen für die Sicherheit einschließlich der wesentlichen Leistungsmerkmale von Infusionspumpen und Infusionsreglern (IEC 60601-2-24:2012); Deutsche Fassung EN 60601-2-24:2015

Overview

These Special Specifications establish the minimum basic safety requirements, including essential performance characteristics, for infusion pumps, infusion controllers, syringe pumps, and infusion pumps for ambulatory use. These devices are intended to be used either by medical personnel or by home patients under medical supervision. It is assumed that the minimum safety requirements specified represent a practicable level of safety. This standard is the adaptation to the new structure of DIN EN 60601-1:2006 with the associated collateral standards. As significant changes, enteral feeding pumps were included in the revision and both new collateral standards for suitability for use DIN EN 60601-1-6 and for alarms DIN EN 60601-1-8 were taken into account. An international follow-up standard will be started in IEC SC62D/MT23 in 2016. The responsible committee is DKE/GUK 812.6 "Apparate für extrakorporale Zirkulations- und Infusionstechnik" ("Apparatus for extracorporeal circulation and infusion technology") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
