Road traffic signal systems - Electromagnetic compatibility; German version EN 50293:2012
Straßenverkehrs-Signalanlagen - Elektromagnetische Verträglichkeit; Deutsche Fassung EN 50293:2012
Overview
In general EMC testing of equipment requires that they are operated under certain conditions like they occur in practice. Equipment can be tested individually or in a representative system. The operating conditions suitable to cause the highest values of the emissions and in addition those who most sensitive condition shall be selected. The specimen is tested so emission and sensitivity values at highest operating frequencies are maximized. This product standard for EMC requirements applies to road traffic signal systems. The range of products included within the scope of this European Standard are road traffic signal systems and devices including for example signal heads, signalling devices and traffic signs, controller and housing, supports, interconnections, traffic detectors, monitoring equipment, electrical supply. Road traffic signal systems operating in conjunction with other systems, for example, public lighting, railway systems shall also comply with the respective standard and shall not reduce the safety of all the equipment. Central Office equipment is excluded from this standard. Items with a radio-communication function should also refer to the European ETSI standards. The responsible committee is Subcommittee DKE/UK 713.3 "Straßenverkehrs-Signalanlagen" ("Road traffic signal systems") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
