Overview
This standard specifies the safety requirements for ramps for wheelchair users and other people restricted in their mobility which are connected to the vehicle or means of transportation (hereinafter referred to as vehicles) or ramps which are part of the vehicle. The ramps can be power- or manually-driven or manually-operated. Vehicles within the framework of this standard are: - railway vehicles, for instance, trains, subways and urban railways, trams, special types of railways; - vehicle class M2 busses. DIN 75078-1 is not a part of this standard. Safety specifications in the framework of the laws regarding technical work equipment (Gerätesicherheitsgesetz (German Equipment Safety Law)) are contained in clauses 5 to 8. The standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 053-01-05 AA "Lifter" ("Hoists") of the Rescue Services and Hospital Standards Committee (NARK) at DIN, the German Institute for Standardization e. V.
