DIN EN 16299
Cathodic protection of external surfaces of above ground storage tank bases in contact with soil or foundations; German version EN 16299:2013
Kathodischer Korrosionsschutz für erdberührte und gegründete Außenflächen von oberirdischen Lagertanks aus Stahl; Deutsche Fassung EN 16299:2013
Overview
This European Standard specifies principles and requirements for conception, implementation, commissioning, operation and maintenance cathodic protection systems in order to mitigate corrosive attacks on the external surfaces of above ground storage steel tank bottoms (AST) in contact with soil, cushion or foundations. This European Standard applies both for tanks to be built and existing tanks. EN 12954, which deals with general principles of cathodic protection of steel coming into contact with soil, and EN 14505, which deals with cathodic protection of complex structures, are referred to in this standard. Detailed information concerning measurement techniques of cathodic protection given in EN 13509 are also referred to in this standard. This European Standard is not applicable to reinforced concrete above ground containers. This document (FprEN 16299:2012) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 219 "Cathodic protection", the secretariat of which is held by BSI (United Kingdom). The responsible German committee is Working Committee NA 062-01-71 AA "Korrosion und Korrosionsschutz" ("Corrosion and corrosion protection") at the Materials Testing Standards Committee (NMP).
