DIN EN ISO 18369-2
Ophthalmic optics - Contact lenses - Part 2: Tolerances (ISO 18369-2:2012); German version EN ISO 18369-2:2012
Augenoptik - Kontaktlinsen - Teil 2: Grenzabweichungen (ISO 18369-2:2012); Deutsche Fassung EN ISO 18369-2:2012
Overview
The standard is applicable to determining allowable tolerances of parameters and properties important for the proper functioning of contact lenses as optical devices. This includes tolerances for single vision contact lenses, bifocal lenses, lenses that alter the flux density or spectral composition of transmitted visible light (tinted or pigmented contact lenses) and lenses that attenuate ultraviolet radiation. It covers contact lenses designed with spherical, toric and aspheric surfaces; it covers rigid (hard) corneal and scleral contact lenses, as well as soft contact lenses. This standard differs from the previous November edition 2006 as follows: the requirements for the oxygen permeability in have been corrected. The standard has been prepared by ISO/TC 172/SC 7 "Ophthalmic optics and instruments" in collaboration with CEN/TC 170 "Ophthalmic optics" (both secretariats: DIN, Germany). The responsible Working Committee at DIN is NA 027-01-08 AA "Augenoptik" ("Ophthalmic optics"), Working Group "Kontaktlinsen" ("Contact lenses") at NAFuO.
