DIN Standards Committee Optics and Precision Mechanics

Overview

This standard specifies terms and definitions for intraocular lenses. It is directed at all experts dealing with the design, manufacture and testing of intraocular lenses and the associated documentation. It is also directed at all ophthalmologists active in the field of cataract surgery. With respect to the previous edition of the standard, the terms necessary for description of accommodating, multifocal, aspheric and toric intraocular lenses are incorporated. As in the ISO reference version the structure in accordance with the technical criteria has been abandoned; DIN EN ISO 11979-1 provides a bilingual glossary of all terms defined in the standard, sorted in alphabetical order in both German and English, in the national annex. The standard has been prepared by ISO/TC 172/SC 7 "Ophthalmic optics and instruments" (secretariat: DIN). On the national level the responsible committee is Working Committee NA 027-01-20 AA "Intraokulare Medizinprodukte" ("Intraocular medical devices") at the Optics and Precision Mechanics Standards Committee (NAFuO).
