Overview
This standard contains the text of IEC Amendment A2:2014-08 to IEC 60335-2-101:2002, which has been adopted without European amendments as EN 60335-2-10:2010/A2:2014-11. Amendment A2:2014, which has been incorporated into the European Standard EN 60335-2-101:2002, essentially changes Subclause 21.101. In the first paragraph, "Drop test, method 2 according to IEC 60068-2-32," is replaced by "Repeated free-fall test, method 2 according to IEC 60068-2-31". The drop height is 500 mm. This standard deals with the safety of electrical vaporizing appliances for household and similar use, where the rated voltage does not exceed 250 V. Examples of appliances that are within the scope of this standard are air fresheners and insect repellers. They may be plugged directly into a socket-outlet or connected to the supply mains by means of a flexible cord and plug. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 511.11 "Motorische Geräte" ("Motor-driven devices") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
