Overview
This standard deals with the safety of electrically operated cooking ranges, ovens, hobs, hob elements and similar appliances. The appliances are not intended for household use, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single phase appliances connected between one phase and neutral and 480 V for other appliances. These appliances are used for example in restaurants, canteens, hospitals and commercial enterprises such as bakeries and butcheries. The electrical part of appliances making use of other forms of energy is also within the scope of this standard. Through Amendment A11:2012 which has been incorporated into the European Standard EN 60335-2-36:2002+A1:2004+A2:2008, appliances or machines for commercial use with power driven moving parts are brought in line with the Essential Requirements of EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. The responsible committee is UK 511.8 "Großküchengeräte" ("Equipment for commercial kitchens") at the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
