DIN 13903
Dentistry - Jaw relation recording material
Zahnheilkunde - Bissregistriermasse
Overview
The standard has been prepared by DIN Working Committee NA 014-00-22 AA "Abformmassen" ("Impression materials") at NADENT. Jaw relation recording materials are used by dentists to determine the exact position of the patient's lower jaw because a three-dimensionally secured jaw position is the basis for every successful prosthetic restoration, especially for the long-term success of a reconstruction. The three-dimensional jaw position for a prosthetic restoration is determined in the habitual or centric position of the condyles (habitual intercuspidation position or physiological contact position). The standard defines the requirements and test methods for jaw relation recording materials that are manufactured on the basis of polyethers, polysiloxanes or other non-aqueous polymeric substances and react to form a very firm mass suitable for jaw relation recording materials that is as rigid as possible. The requirements for the color of the components, the mixing time for mixtures that are manually mixed, the processing time, the minimum residence time in the oral cavity, the recovery after deformation, the resilience in the flexural test, the degree of rubber hardness, the linear dimensional change and the biocompatibility are described. In addition to the tests required to this end, information on the instructions for use, labeling and packaging are also specified.
