Chemical analysis of refractory products by X-ray fluorescence (XRF) - Fused cast-bead method (ISO 12677:2011); German version EN ISO 12677:2011
Chemische Analyse von feuerfesten Erzeugnissen durch Röntgenfluoreszenz-Analyse (RFA) - Schmelzaufschluss-Verfahren (ISO 12677:2011); Deutsche Fassung EN ISO 12677:2011
Overview
This document specifies a method for the chemical analysis of refractory products and materials and oxide technical ceramics and includes the determination of mass fractions between 0,01 % and 99 % by X-ray fluorescence of fusions. The principle of the specified method is to fuse a powdered sample with a suitable flux to destroy its mineralogical and particulate composition. The meld is cast into the shape of a glass bead which is introduced into the XRF spectrometer. The intensities of the excited fluorescent X-rays of the individual elements in the bead are measured. The chemical composition of the sample is analyzed by reference to previously determined calibration graphs or equations and applying corrections for inter-element effects. This document has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 33 "Refractories" and CEN/TC 187 "Refractory products and materials", the secretariats of which are held by BSI (United Kingdom). The responsible German committee is Working Committee NA 062-02-61 AA "Chemische Analyse von oxidischen Roh- und Werkstoffen" ("Chemical analysis of oxidic raw and basic materials") of the Petroleum, Fuels, Lubricants and Related Products Standardization Committee (NMP) at DIN.
