Acceptance test
Acceptance testing of dental X-ray equipment in Germany at present is conducted on the basis of two standards. Such somewhat difficult and unsatisfactory condition is to be changed, the more as some of the requirements laid down in the standard DIN EN 61223-3-4 "Evaluation and routine testing in departments for medical imaging - Parts 3-4: Acceptance tests - Performance characteristics for imaging of dental X-ray equipment" is questionable. The working group is preparing a revision text, which should be finalized by the end of 2007. Test procedures for dental X-ray units for intraoral X-ray receivers, for panoramic radiograms with extraoral X-ray receiver as well as for X-ray units used in cephalometry are described in detail.
