This Working Committee has been set up for work on standardization of dental hand instruments, such as dental mirrors, dental probes, tweezers, excavators, curettes, scalers, extraction forceps and root elevators as well as dental syringe systems, cartridges and cannulae. The American Dental Association proposed a colour coding system for dental cartridges, which specifies the concentration of the local anaesthetic and, if added, of the vasoconstrictor. On the national level standardisation has started 2007 for rubber dam forceps and the revision of spatula standard, type Heidemann.
