Overview
The publications are revisions of the standards DIN EN 10257-1:1998-07 and DIN EN 10257-2:1998-07. The standard DIN EN 10257-1 specifies requirements for the properties of non-alloy carbon zinc or zinc alloy coated steel wire used primarily for the armouring of either land power or telecommunication cables. The standard DIN EN 10257-2 specifies requirements for the properties of non-alloy zinc or zinc alloy coated steel wires used for the armouring of either submarine power or telecommunication cables. In addition to test methods and testing, specifications for information to be supplied by the purchaser and for identification of the land and submarine cables are further elements of both standards. The European Standards have been prepared by ECISS/TC 106 "Wire rod and wires", the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR, France. The responsible national Mirror Committee is Working Committee NA 099-00-01 AA "Stahldraht" ("Steel wire") of NAD.
