Gullies for buildings - Part 5: Gullies with light liquids closure; German version EN 1253-5:2017
Abläufe für Gebäude - Teil 5: Abläufe mit Leichtflüssigkeitssperre; Deutsche Fassung EN 1253-5:2017
Overview
The revision of this standard was necessary due to the introduction of the new standards for floor gullies with an odour trap with an odour trap height of at least 50 mm (EN 1253-1) and for the conformity assessment of floor gullies, roof drains and covers (EN 1253-3), as well as changes to the scope of application, classification, functional requirements and marking procedure. Gullies with light liquid closure for buildings are applied to avoid uncontrolled discharge of light liquids into drainage systems in case of emergency. After a classification of gullies with a light liquid closure according to their drainage capacity (unlimited use in gravity drainage systems, reduced drainage with light liquid closure as an additional device in gullies) and material requirements, functional requirements (inlet, security height, tightness, requirements for maintenance and drainage capacity) that go beyond EN 1253-1 are specified. In addition to the test procedures specified in EN 1253-1, the tests for the blocking function, tightness and safety height shall also be carried out. Modalities for marking and assessing conformity conclude the specifications. The responsible committee is Working Committee NA 119-05-11 AA "Ablaufgarnituren, Abläufe, Rückstauverschlüsse und Belüftungsventile für die Verwendung innerhalb von Gebäuden (CEN/TC 165/WG 11)" ("Waste fittings, drains, anti-flooding devices and air vents for use inside buildings (CEN/TC 165/WG 11)") at DIN Standards Committee Water Practice (NAW).
