Overview
The standard DIN 18550-1 includes supplementary specifications to DIN EN 13914-1 "Design, preparation and application of external rendering and internal plastering - Part 1: External rendering". It also applies to the rendering of ceilings in external areas. It additionally applies to the use of renders in accordance with DIN EN 998-1 and DIN EN 15824 on walls and ceilings of building structures that meet the applicable standards, in particular DIN EN 1992-1-1, DIN 1053-1, DIN 4103-1 and DIN 4213, and can be applied analogously to similar plaster bases, such as for old buildings. Surface finishes of components such as water scouring, lime wash, rough-plastering as well as impregnations and coatings (paints) are not considered plasters in accordance with this standard. Compared to DIN V 18550:2005-04, the following modifications have been made: a) a Part 1 on the treatment of external renders has been outsourced analogously to the structuring of the European application standard DIN EN 13914; b) the standard has been editorially revised and partially restructured; c) Annex D "Reinforcement of plasters" has been added. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 005-06-06 AA "Putzmörtel (SpA zu CEN/TC 125/WG 5 und CEN/TC 125/WG 2)" ("Rendering mortar (national mirror committee for CEN/TC 125/WG 5 and CEN/TC 125/WG 2)") at DIN.
