DIN Standards Committee Building and Civil Engineering
DIN EN 206
Concrete - Specification, performance, production and conformity; German version EN 206:2013
Beton - Festlegung, Eigenschaften, Herstellung und Konformität; Deutsche Fassung EN 206:2013
Overview
This European Standard applies to concrete for structures cast in situ, precast structures, and structural precast products for buildings and civil engineering structures. The concrete under this European Standard may be mixed on site, ready-mixed or produced in a plant for precast concrete products. This standard specifies requirements for: - the constituents of concrete; - the properties of fresh and hardened concrete and their verification; - the limitations for concrete composition; - the specification of concrete; - the delivery of fresh concrete; - the production control procedures, etcetera. This standard differs from DIN EN 206-1:2001-07, DIN EN 206-1/A1:2004-10, DIN EN 206-1/A2:2005-09 and DIN EN 206-9:2010-09 as follows: a) application rules for fibre concrete and concrete with recycled aggregates have been added; b) the k-value concept for fly ash and silica fume has been revised and new rules for ground granulated blast furnace slag have been added; c) principles for performance concepts for the use of additions, for example equivalent concrete performance concept and equivalent performance of combinations concept have been introduced; d) concepts for conformity assessment have been revised and some new concepts have been added; e) reference to EN 206-9 "Additional rules for self-compacting concrete (SCC)" has been added; f) additional requirements for concrete for special geotechnical works (Annex D) have been included; g) Figure 1 illustrates the relationships between EN 206 and standards for design and execution, standards for constituents and test standards; h) reference to EN 206-1/A1 and EN 206-1/A2 has been added. Regarding the German collaboration, Working Committee NA 005-07-02 "Betontechnik (SpA zu CEN/TC 104)" ("Concrete technology (national mirror committee for CEN/TC 104)") at the Building and Civil Engineering Standards Committee (NABau) is responsible.
