Specification for masonry units - Part 3: Aggregate concrete masonry units (Dense and lightweight aggregates); German version EN 771-3:2011
Festlegungen für Mauersteine - Teil 3: Mauersteine aus Beton (mit dichten und porigen Zuschlägen); Deutsche Fassung EN 771-3:2011
Overview
This European Standard describes the characteristics and performance requirements of aggregate concrete masonry units made from dense and/or lightweight aggregates mainly intended for use as common, facing or exposed masonry in load bearing or non-load bearing building and civil engineering applications. The units described are suitable for all forms of walling, including single leaf, external leaf to chimneys, cavity wall, partitions, retaining, and basement. They can provide fire protection, thermal insulation, sound insulation and sound absorption. This standard also applies to aggregate concrete masonry units of an overall non-rectangular parallelepiped shape, including shaped and accessory units. It defines the requirements related to, for instance, strength, density, dimensional accuracy, and the evaluation of conformity of the product to this European Standard is also specified. The marking requirements for products covered by this European Standard are also specified. This European Standard does not specify standard sizes for aggregate concrete masonry units, nor standard work dimensions and angles of specially shaped aggregate concrete masonry units. It does not apply to storey height panels, chimney flue linings nor units intended for use as a damp proof course. It does not apply to units with an incorporated thermal insulation material bonded to the faces of the unit susceptible to be exposed to fire. The Committee responsible for this standard is NA 005-06-02 AA "Koordinierungsausschuss Mauersteine (SpA zu CEN/TC 125/WG 1)" ("Coordinating committee Masonry Units (Mirror Committee of CEN/TC 125/WG 1)") at DIN.
