DIN 18197
Sealing of joints in concrete with waterstops
Abdichten von Fugen in Beton mit Fugenbändern
Overview
This standard applies for planning, design, handling, processing and installation of waterstops which correspond with DIN 7865-1 and DIN 7865-2, DIN 18541-1 and DIN 18541-2. The waterstops are intended for sealing against soil moisture, non-pressing or pressing water as well as for closing joints and are set in concrete when producing joints in concrete members or structures made of waterproof concrete according to the standards of the DIN 1045 series. This standard also applies analogously to sealings acting against contact media chemically attacking waterstops, provided it has been verified that the waterstops are object-specifically permanently resistant and do not preclude other regulations. This standard does not apply to: - the use of waterstops in systems for the storage, filling and handling of water-hazardous substances (LAU systems), - the use of waterstops in systems for the manufacture, processing and distribution of water-hazardous substances (HBV systems), - sealing of construction joints with coated and uncoated sealing strips, press-fitted injection hose systems and swellable joint fillers, - subsequent sealing of expansion and construction joints with waterstops, jointing products or joint sealing profiles, - clamp constructions. The transition from regulated to unregulated sealing systems requires special planning.
