DIN 4107-3
Geotechnical measurements - Part 3: Inclinometer and deflectometer measurements
Geotechnische Messungen - Teil 3: Inklinometer- und Deflektometermessungen
Overview
The standard applies to inclination and direction measurements which have been carried out within the framework of investigations in soil and rock in accordance with DIN 4020, DIN EN 1997-1 and DIN EN 1997-2 and on and in buildings with inclinometer and deflectometers. It shall be applied in connection with DIN 4107-1. The purposes and fields of application are, amongst others: - identification of active shear zones in soil and rock; - supervision of stability of geotechnical objects before, during and after construction (for example, slopes, embankments, excavation enclosures, foundations, dam plants, landfills, tunnels); - determination of soil and rock displacements (for example, for comparison with predicted values within the framework of the observational method according to DIN 1054 and DIN EN 1997-1, and for verification of geotechnical calculation assumptions); - derivation of geotechnical characteristic values (for example, for load tests, test tunnels); - measurement of borehole courses; - verification of verticality of components (for example, diaphragm walls). The accuracy of other devices designed for measurements of the course of boreholes (for example, gyrocompass, magnet and multishot sensors) is usually not sufficient enough for displacement measurements and are not covered by this standard. The Committee responsible for this standard is NA 005-05-09 AA "Baugrund; Feldversuche (SpA zu CEN/TC 341/WG 2, WG 3 und WG 5)" ("Subsoil; field tests (SpA of CEN/TC 341/WG 2, WG 3 and WG 5)") at DIN.
