Overview
This standard addresses architects and for those involved in the design, installation and maintenance of electrical installations. Requirements and recommendations for electrical installations are specified with the aim to prevent or reduce the influence of electromagnetic disturbances. With respect to DIN VDE 0100-444 (VDE 0100-444):1999-10 and DIN V VDE V 0800-2-548 (VDE V 0800-2-548):1999-10, the following significant changes have been carried out: a) the status of Clause 444 has been changed from "Report" to "Standard"; b) sub-clause "Terms and definitions" has been added; c) measures against electromagnetic disturbances have been completely revised and considerably expanded; d) requirements for IT and TT systems have been added; e) requirements for lightning protection systems have been deleted; f) requirements have been added for - multiple feeding, - earthing and equipotential bonding and - cable installation (cable management systems). The responsible Committee is K 221 "Elektrische Anlagen und Schutz gegen elektrischen Schlag" ("Electrical installations and protection against electric shock") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
