Application of building products in structures - Part 401: Rules for the application of clay masonry units according to DIN EN 771-1:2015-11
Abstract
This standard applies to the use of masonry bricks of category I according to DIN EN 771-1 for masonry on which requirements can be placed with regard to stability, thermal insulation, sound insulation and fire protection. The design rules for masonry according to DIN EN 1996-1-1:2013-02, DIN EN 1996 1 2:2011-04, DIN EN 1996-2:2010-12 and DIN EN 1996-3:2010-12 in conjunction with the National Annexes DIN EN 1996-1-1/NA:2012-05, DIN EN 1996-1-1/NA/A1:2014-03 DIN EN 1996-1-1/NA/A2:2015-01, DIN EN 1996-1-2/NA:2013-06, DIN EN 1996-2/NA:2012-01, DIN EN 1996-3/NA:2012-01, DIN EN 1996-3/NA/A1:2014-03 and DIN EN 1996-3/NA/A2:2015-01 currently do not contain any specifications for masonry made of vertically perforated bricks HLzE and for masonry made of vertically perforated plane bricks PHLzB, PHLzE and PMz using the thin-bed method. Corresponding regulations are currently being prepared. Until these regulations are available, the relevant provisions of this standard are not to be applied. In particular, this application standard does not apply to: - Fill bricks; - ceramic clinker bricks; - facing bricks for thin-bed masonry; - Barrier bricks as waterproofing according to DIN 18533.
