Corrosion protection of steel structures and their fasteners in drywall using corrosion protection systems - Laboratory tests for the evaluation of coating systems

Abstract

This document specifies laboratory test methods and test conditions for the evaluation of organic and inorganic corrosion protection systems for corrosion protection in drywall construction. Unalloyed/low-alloyed steel with a material thickness of 0.3 mm to 3.0 mm and fasteners with nominal diameters of up to 12 mm are assessed. The test results are regarded as an aid to the selection of suitable coated substructures and fasteners and not as precise data for determining the duration of protection. This document specifies which protection class is suitable for which application situation of steel substructures and fasteners in drywall construction. This document is applicable to substructures and fasteners made of uncoated, coated, galvanized steel as well as steel surfaces with thermally sprayed or other metal coatings. The environmental conditions specified in DIN EN ISO 9223:2012 05, Table 1 for corrosivity categories C1 to C5 are taken into account. In addition, category C5-M is listed for special exposure to salts.
