Kunststoffe - Bestimmung der durchschnittlichen Molmasse und der Molmassenverteilung von Polymeren mittels Gelpermeationschromatographie - Teil 5: Lichtstreudetektionsverfahren (ISO 16014-5:2012); Deutsche Fassung EN ISO 16014-5:2012
Overview
The standard specifies a general method for determining the average molecular mass and the molecular mass distribution of polymers using SEC-LS, that is, size-exclusion chromatography (SEC) coupled with light-scattering detection (LS). The average molecular mass and the molecular mass distribution are calculated from molecular mass data and mass concentrations determined continuously with elution time. The molecular mass at each elution time is determined absolutely by combining a light-scattering detector with a concentration-sensitive detector. Therefore, SEC-LS is classified as an absolute method. The technical committee responsible for the European Standard EN ISO 16014-5 is CEN/TC 139 "Paints and varnishes" (secretariat: DIN, Germany). The underlying international draft standard ISO 16014-5 has been prepared by ISO/TC 61 "´Plastics", SC 5 "Physical-chemical properties" (secretariat: DIN, Germany). The German Standard DIN EN ISO 16014-5 falls into the area of responsibility of Working Committee NA 002-00-02-03 AK "Gelpermeationschromatographie" ("Gel permeation chromatography") of NA 002-00-02 AA "Lackrohstoffe" ("Raw materials for paints and varnishes") of the Coatings and Coating Materials Standards Committee (NAB).
