Paints and varnishes - Corrosion protection of steel structures by powder coating systems - Part 3: Surveillance and certification requirements
Abstract
This document specifies the requirements for the monitoring and certification of corrosion protection by powder coating systems on load-bearing thick-walled steel components with a sheet thickness of ≥ 3 mm. This document is applicable to all certification bodies, see 4.1, which offer surveillance and certification of corrosion protection by coating systems according to DIN 55633 1 and DIN 55633-2, to powder coating material manufacturers and to coaters who apply corrosion protection by powder coating systems and/or epoxy cathodic dip painting and powder coating systems to load-bearing thick-walled steel components. It can also be used for component manufacturers if changes to the properties of corrosion protection systems are to be expected as a result of further processing. This document does not require monitoring and certification for hot-dip galvanizing companies that produce coatings in accordance with DIN EN ISO 1461. NOTE The requirements for batch galvanized products are specified for load-bearing components in the area regulated by the building authorities in DASt Guideline 022. By agreement, steel components < 3 mm can also be monitored and certified in accordance with this standard.
