Overview

The specification DIN SPEC 91252 defines standardized dimensions for lithium-ion-cells as requirement for the design of battery systems for use in electrically propelled road vehicles. It concerns cylindrical, prismatic and pouch cells. The cells are differentiated in accordance with their scope into high-energy and high-performance cells. This specification stipulates the outer dimensions and the position of connection elements in connection with special usage classes, such as hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) and battery electric vehicles (BEV). The internal structure, chemistry of the cells, the electric properties and further characteristics are not described in this specification.
