Abstract
This document has been prepared to provide guidance for the selection of components that bridge basic, supplementary, double or reinforced insulation and the selection of insulated components, as the applicable product standards for such components are not specified in ISO 6469-3. Additionally, this document provides information about proper setup of withstand voltage tests, e.g. according to ISO 6469-3, where such components are involved. For most components, this document refers to existing product standards. However, this document specifies how to apply the existing standards in the automotive context and specifies additional requirements and tests for insulation-bridging components. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2020. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: a) Added: More detailed specification of the applicable environmental and operating conditions b) Removed: Class X capacitors, as these are out of scope c) Added: Photocouplers, Hall sensors, printed circuit boards d) Added: Conformance tests for couplers with reinforced insulation, for isolating transformers and safety isolating transformers e) Added: Annex providing information about typical working voltages and overvoltages of electric circuits
