DIN EN 1911
Stationary source emissions - Determination of mass concentration of gaseous chlorides expressed as HCl - Standard reference method; German version EN 1911:2010
Emissionen aus stationären Quellen - Bestimmung der Massenkonzentration von gasförmigen Chloriden, angegeben als HCl - Standardreferenzverfahren; Deutsche Fassung EN 1911:2010
Overview
This European Standard specifies the Standard Reference Method for the determination of the concentration of gaseous chlorides in stationary source emissions (for instance waste incineration plants). The sampling equipment for extracting gas samples from exhaust gases is described in detail and its necessary capacity is defined through minimum requirements. Three alternative analytical techniques are permitted for the determination the chloride content in chloride containing absorption solutions obtained during sampling: ion-exchange chromatography, photometry and potentiometry. The method can be used as the Standard Reference Method, if the uncertainty for a given emission limit value is less than 30 % for a special type of plant. The chlorides concentration is expressed as HCl. The method has been validated during field tests on waste incineration plants. It applies to waste gases in which chlorides concentration is between 1 mg/m3 and 5 000 mg/m3. This standard is relevant for plant operators, measurement institutes and supervising authorities.
