Founding - Low-alloyed ferritic spheroidal graphite cast irons for elevated temperature applications; German version EN 16124:2011
Gießereiwesen - Niedriglegiertes ferritisches Gusseisen mit Kugelgraphit für Anwendungen bei höheren Temperaturen; Deutsche Fassung EN 16124:2011
Overview
This European Standard classifies low-alloyed ferritic spheroidal graphite cast iron grades which are primarily used due to their temperature stability and oxidation stability. According to their silicon and molybdenum contents, nine low-alloyed ferritic spheroidal graphite cast iron grades are specified. Medium-weight and heavy castings, such as turbine housings and compressor parts are typical applications for the first three grades. The remaining six grades are primarily used for exhaust manifolds and turbocharger housings in the automotive industry. This European Standard has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 190 "Foundry technology", the secretariat of which is held by DIN (Germany). Regarding the German collaboration, the responsible Working Committee is NA 036-00-01 AA "Gusseisenwerkstoffe" ("Cast iron materials") of the Foundry Practice Standards Committee (GINA).
