Overview
This standard specifies requirements for the selection and erection of lighting and lighting systems which are part of a fixed external lighting installation. The requirements apply particularly to lighting installations, for example, for roads, parks, gardens, public places, sporting areas, illumination of monuments and flood lighting, and other equipment incorporating lighting such as telephone kiosks, bus shelters, advertising panels, town maps, road signs. The following significant modifications have been made with regard to DIN VDE 0100-714 (VDE 0100-714):2002-01: a) extensive, primarily editorial clarifications in the entire standard text; b) adjustment of the formal structure/numbering of the clauses to the currently valid Parts 100 to 60 of the standards of the series DIN VDE 0100 (VDE 0100); c) extensive modifications in 714.4 "Protective measures" and 714.5 "Selection and erection of electrical equipment"; d) supplementation of Annex A with country-specific notes. The responsible committee is UK 221.2 "Schutz gegen thermische Auswirkungen/Sachschutz" ("Protection against thermal effects/protection of goods") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
