DIN EN 13272
Railway applications - Electrical lighting for rolling stock in public transport systems; German version EN 13272:2012
Bahnanwendungen - Elektrische Beleuchtung in Schienenfahrzeugen des öffentlichen Verkehrs; Deutsche Fassung EN 13272:2012
Overview
This standard is a revision of EN 13272:2001. It contains performance requirements and recommendations for electrical lighting systems for the interiors of public transport railway rolling stock under all operating and emergency conditions. The European Standard is related to Guideline 2008/57/EC on the interoperability of the rail system within the Community. The application of this standard confers a presumption of conformity with the corresponding Essential Requirements of the directive. The revision aims at defining requirements resulting from the legal requirements. For this purpose, the clause "Emergency lighting" has been supplemented, specifications for illuminance measurement of access steps have been included and Annex ZA has been adapted to the new directive. In addition to the emergency exits and rescue procedures, protection against fire, electric shocks and noise, optic and acoustic warning signals as well as control of rail vehicles and the human-machine interface, the emergency lighting system also serves for protection of the entire vehicle/track system. Lighting of the accesses is an important element for safety and comfort of the passengers, in particular for persons with reduced mobility.
