To develop European standards for design, manufacture, operation and maintenance for all rail systems, in the field of heavy rail and urban rail Rolling Stock Products and associated vehicle mounted mechanical equipment in order to provide:- clearly stated harmonised requirements for these Rolling Stock Products at all operational speeds from urban rail vehicles to high speed trains.- safe and reliable levels of operation and also of recovery.- pass/fail criteria to assist approval authorities to easily accept these Rolling Stock Products.
