DIN 14405
Firefighting and fire protection - Bucket pumps

Title (German)

Feuerwehrwesen - Kübelspritzen

Overview

The standard applies to bucket pumps and specifies their components, dimensions and requirements. The bucket pump is a manually portable fire extinguishing device with a manually operated, double-acting piston pump for extinguishing small fires, the extinguishing agent content of which is sprayed by means of a hose with steel pipe or mouthpiece. The advantage of bucket fire extinguishers over pressurized small fire extinguishers is their relative freedom from maintenance and the very simple and fast refilling of extinguishing water. The December 1999 edition of DIN 14405 had to be revised to bring the standard content up to date, with the following significant changes: - bucket pump form B with 10 l extinguishing agent volume included; - normative references updated; - technical drawings of several individual parts included in this standard because of DIN 14407 (setting sprayer ES), which was withdrawn without replacement in January 2001. - The conformity assessment requirement by an officially recognized testing facility has been omitted because its legal basis, the "Administrative Agreement between the States of the Federal Republic of Germany on the Testing and Approval of Fire Extinguishing Agents, Fire Fighting Appliances and Equipment", no longer exists. The standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 031-04-04 AA "Schläuche und Armaturen - SpA zu CEN/TC 192/WG 1 und WG 8" ("Hoses and armatures - Mirror Committee of CEN/TC 192/WG 1 and WG 8") at DIN Standards Committee Firefighting and Fire Protection (FNFW).
