DIN EN 16773
Aluminium and aluminium alloys - Guideline for the production of foil-stock in the field of semi rigid foodstuff containers; German version EN 16773:2016
Aluminium und Aluminiumlegierungen - Leitfaden zur Fertigung von Folienvorwalzbändern für halbstarre Lebensmittelbehälter; Deutsche Fassung EN 16773:2016
Overview
This European Standard specifies practices for the manufacture of rolled products for which specific requirements are imposed on the surface quality required for the production of disposable foodstuff containers. It specifies requirements for the odour and degree of purity of the rolled products and the evaluation criteria associated with certain tests, as well as selection criteria for the rolling oils and pre-lubricants to be used in the manufacturing process. It provides a guideline about manufacturing practices for rolled products in the thicknesses range between ≥ 35 μm and ≤ 200 μm having surface quality characteristics essential for production of aluminium semi-rigid containers, lids and disposable platters which are used in contact with foodstuff. This standard can be applied to the production cycle of the "rolled semi-finished goods", but not in the production process of containers, lids and disposable platters. It has been prepared by Working Group 9 "Cast and wrought products in contact with foodstuffs" at Technical Committee CEN/TC 132 "Aluminium and aluminium alloys" (secretariat: AFNOR, France) of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). The responsible German standardization committee is DIN Working Committee NA 066-01 FBR Section Steering Committee Aluminium at DIN Standards Committee Nonferrous Metals (FNNE).
