DIN EN ISO 2376
Anodizing of aluminium and its alloys - Determination of electric breakdown potential (ISO 2376:2010); German version EN ISO 2376:2010

Title (German)

Anodisieren von Aluminium und Aluminiumlegierungen - Bestimmung der elektrischen Durchschlagspannung (ISO 2376:2010); Deutsche Fassung EN ISO 2376:2010

Overview

This standard specifies test methods for the determination of the electric breakdown potential of anodic oxidation coatings on aluminium and its alloys in flat or near-flat surfaces and on round wire. The methods are applicable to anodic oxidation coatings used primarily as electrical insulators. The methods are not applicable to coatings in the vicinity of cut edges, the edges of holes or sharp changes of angle on, for example, extruded sections. The methods described do not give satisfactory results for unsealed coatings. Electric breakdown potential is affected by relative humidity. The International/European Standard has been prepared under the leadership of ISO/TC 79/SC 2/WG 16 "Revisions for Systematic reviewed TC 79/SC 2 ISO standards" (secretariat: JISC, Japan) in a parallel procedure with CEN/TC 132/WG 15 "Aluminium anodisation" (secretariat: BSI, United Kingdom). On the national level the responsible Working Committee is NA 066-01-09 AA "Anodisch oxidiertes Aluminium" ("Aluminium anodisation") of FNNE.
