Laboratory equipment - Laboratory fittings - Part 1: Valves for water

Abstract

This document applies to laboratory water fittings with metallic and non-metallic fitting bodies for maximum resting pressures of 1.0 MPa (10 bar), see Table 1. The standard is to be applied to tapping points for water of comparable quality to drinking water in laboratories. If drinking water is used, it is fed via a pipe separator or free outlet (see DIN EN 1717 "Protection of drinking water against contamination in drinking water installations and general requirements for safety devices to prevent drinking water contamination by backflow"). Laboratory water fittings are not intended for the withdrawal of drinking water as defined by the Drinking Water Ordinance. This standard is also applicable to fittings for cooling circuits which are operated with water-based liquids. The resistance of the fittings must be checked with the manufacturer in each individual case with regard to the cooling water used. NOTE: Condensation may form on the surface of the laboratory fitting during operation at low temperatures. This standard does not apply to laboratory fittings in contact with demineralized water. The tapping points can be valves, mixer taps or separate media tapping points for different types of installation, e.g. wall mounting, suspended mounting, floor mounting or recessed mounting. This standard specifies dimensions, designation, marking and requirements for - materials, - tightness, - strength under internal pressure, - hydraulic behavior, - mechanical strength, - fatigue strength, - mechanical load capacity, - durability, - and corresponding test procedures for the tapping points. DIN EN 13792 applies to the color coding of the actuators on the water fittings and the separate media tapping points depending on the type of water. The tests described in this standard are type tests (laboratory tests) and are not intended for production control.
