Artificial lighting - Part 3: Lighting of health care premises
Abstract
In conjunction with DIN EN 12464-1, this standard specifies the requirements and recommendations for artificial lighting in the healthcare sector. It supplements DIN EN 12464-1 with requirements and recommendations for patients, persons in need of care, employees and visitors, taking into account the different lighting requirements. If individual areas in the healthcare sector are not considered in this standard, comparable visual tasks or activities and their lighting requirements can be used. This also applies to geriatric care and similar facilities. Special clinical pictures (e.g. dementia and Parkinson's disease) require higher and/or different lighting quality characteristics. For veterinary rooms, the requirements specified here can be applied for similar visual tasks. This standard does not take into account light therapy and related treatment procedures. This standard does not apply to the lighting of workplaces with regard to occupational health and safety.
