Optical radiation
Working committee NA 058-00-07 AA "Optical radiation" is working on national, European and international standards projects relating to optical radiation. The committee lays down general and specialized terms and definitions, radiant characteristics, and specifies requirements for the generation, applications and measurements, as well as on effects of protection against optical radiation. The standards projects cover, for example, requirements for measuring equipment and measurement methods, as well as for equipment and sources of radiation emitting optical radiation. Applications of optical radiations are covered in standards about the determination of the sun protection factor (SPF) of sunscreens and the compilation of spectral weighting functions. Another focus is on requirements for protection against optical radiation, for instance at the workplace. In the joint subcommittee GAK 511.0.7, NA 058 00 07 AA and DKE, the German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies of DIN and VDE are collaborating in developing electro technical standards on the safety of household appliances. Expressly excluded is in particular the perception of radiation by the visual process and color vision.
