DIN 16742
Plastics moulded parts - Tolerances and acceptance conditions; Text in German and English
Kunststoff-Formteile - Toleranzen und Abnahmebedingungen; Text Deutsch und Englisch
Overview
With DIN 16742, a successor standard to DIN 16901 "Plastics mouldings; Tolerances and acceptance conditions for linear dimensions", withdrawn in 2009, is made available to the public. It shall be noted, however, that DIN 16742 applies exclusively for new designs from the date of issue of the standard. The limit dimensions and tolerances for size elements, distances between size elements and profile form tolerances without drawing indication specified in this standard are applicable to injection moulding, injection compression moulding, transfer moulding and compression moulding of non-porous moulded parts made from thermoplastics, thermoplastic elastomers and thermosets. An analogous application of the standard is possible for special process variants, if this was agreed with the moulded part manufacturer. This standard covers exclusively possible manufacturing tolerances for plastic moulded parts manufactured by original mould methods with closed tools. This standard is directed at moulded part designers and manufacturers as well as designers and manufacturers of the required tools. The responsible committee at DIN is Working Committee NA 054-05-13 AA "Toleranzen von Kunststoff-Formteilen" ("Tolerances for plastics moulded parts") of the Plastics Standards Committee (FNK).
