DIN 14461-6
Delivery valve installations for firefighting purposes - Part 6: Wall hydrants with flat hose for trained personnel
Feuerlösch-Schlauchanschlusseinrichtungen - Teil 6: Wandhydranten mit Flachschlauch für geschultes Personal
Overview
This standard is intended to enable architects, planners, fire departments and administrative bodies to provide wall hydrants with flat hose expediently in the appropriate fire protection areas. Fire extinguishing and fire protection systems are only used in the event of a fire during their service life. If such systems are filled with water and do not flow, there is a risk that the water will remain in the systems long enough to become a sanitary concern. If such installations are connected to the drinking water supply system, they pose a risk to drinking water. DIN 1988-600 applies to the connection of wall hydrants to the drinking water installation.
This standard specifies requirements for cabinets and their equipment for wall hydrants with flat hoses. These wall hydrants are intended for connection to "wet" or "wet/dry" fire extinguishing pipe systems in accordance with DIN 14462. Wall hydrants with flat hoses are used for fire fighting by the fire department as well as by persons with special fire protection tasks who are appropriately trained in the handling of this extinguishing water equipment. DIN 14462 applies to the planning, installation, operation and maintenance of fire extinguishing pipe systems.
This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 031-03-05 AA "Anlagen zur Löschwasserversorgung einschließlich Wandhydranten - SpA zu CEN/TC 191/WG 9" ("Installations for supply of water for firefighting including hose systems - Mirror committee for CEN/TC 191/WG 9") at DIN Standards Committee Firefighting and Fire Protection (FNFW).
