DIN 18009-1
Fire safety engineering - Part 1: Basic principles and codes of practice
Brandschutzingenieurwesen - Teil 1: Grundsätze und Regeln für die Anwendung
Overview
This standard specifies requirements for the methods of fire safety engineering and their application in the built environment, such as buildings and underground traffic systems. This standard is of limited applicability in some areas, for example ships, aeroplanes and mines. The provisions of this standard are intended to specify the basic principles for the evaluation of fire hazards and for the assessment and design of fire safety measures required to fulfil predefined safety objectives. This standard was conceived as a generic standard and as the basis for further parts of the DIN 18009 standards series. These other parts provide provisions and data specific to fire safety practice. This standard has been prepared by NA 005-52-21 AA "Brandschutzingenieurverfahren (SpA zu ISO/TC 92/SC 4 und CEN/TC 127/WG 8)" ("Fire safety engineering (national mirror committee for ISO/TC 92/SC 4 and CEN/TC 127/WG 8)") at DIN Standards Committee Building and Civil Engineering (NABau).
